Message from the OVSOT President
Welcome to the website of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Society of
Toxicology (OVSOT). Our Chapter is a dynamic and growing organization, comprised of individuals from academia, industry, and government, all of whom share an interest in toxicology. We invite you to browse around our Web site and to learn more about the OVSOT. Included among the links at this site are the names and addresses of the Officers of the OVSOT, an application form for Membership, and information about our Annual Fall meetings. For many years, the OVSOT has provided an excellent forum for the exchange of information and ideas among Toxicologists in our Region, which serves Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. The Chapter strongly supports the vision and long range plans of the National SOT. We are particularly proud of our commitment to the professional development of young scientists, as evidenced by the activities of many of our members who are actively engaged in teaching and research throughout the Region. Our Annual Meeting, which is usually held in late October/early November, features an undergraduate student poster competition in which cash awards are offered for the three best research posters. Beginning at our 1999 Annual Meeting, the Chapter voted to invite the 1st place winner to serve as OVSOT's Student Representative to the National SOT.
We urge all individuals in the Region with professional interests in Toxicology to join the Chapter and participate in its activities. The membership dues are quite modest at only $10 per year. The officers welcome inquiries regarding membership and the activities of the Chapter. We hope you will contact us, join the Chapter, and participate in its activities.
In closing, we wish to extend the Chapter's appreciation to the regional companies that generously donate funds to support the OVSOT. We encourage other companies to likewise make a tax-deductible contribution or to sponsor one of our activities. Any one of the officers can provide further information regarding these opportunities.
Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in the OVSOT.
Yours sincerely,
Yvonne P. Dragan, Ph.D.
OVSOT President
